4 Bad Habits That Can Harm Your Skin

Skin care is an important part of looking and feeling good. It is also one of our main weapons against aging. All your anti aging efforts will come to nothing if you don't concentrate on proper skin care. Proper skin care not only involves using the right product and procedures it also involves avoiding things that can harm your skin. These include the following bad habits that can play havoc on your skin and you should avoid them as much as possible if you wish to have healthy and glowing skin.
1. Drinking Alcohol
The stereotypical alcoholic face is always depicted as flushed and red and that is no joke. Alcohol in your blood dilate the capillaries that are close to the skin surface. Continuous consumption of alcohol leads to sagging of the skin, threaded veins and a bad complexion with wrinkles and breakouts. Alcohol dehydrates your body including your skin and this frequent loss of moisture tends to shrivel your skin leading to earlier appearance of wrinkles.
2. Going Out In The Sun Without Protection
It is true that sunlight is good for your skin but too much of sun exposure can damage it. If you are exposed to sunlight for long hours during the day the ultraviolet rays in the sunlight can cause sun ageing. For this reason it is important to apply a SPF solution on your body parts that are exposed to the sun, especially the face, neck and hands.
3. Not Paying Attention To Skin Exfoliation
If you don't exfoliate your skin regularly then the dead cells of the skin pile up on healthy skin and prevent it from breathing. This can also cause rashes and itchiness in the skin during dry weather. Therefore if you want to keep your skin looking young longer then you must scrub your skin daily with a loofah, puff, or an exfoliator to remove the dead skin cells. Applying a moisturizer after a scrub will help to keep the skin soft and supple.
4. Dry Shaving
Whether it is shaving the face, the underarms or legs both women and men should avoid shaving them dry. This can damage the skin unnecessarily and lead to cuts and nicks. Before you plan to shave any part of your body you must first soften the skin in the shower for about ten minutes. Then lather the area with a shaving cream and not soap. Use long strokes while shaving and after the shower apply body lotion.
It is needless to say that in order to avoid premature aging of the skin you must avoid using harsh chemical based products and use skin care products that are made from natural ingredients.
